Artist's Statement

A Brief History: I guess I began drawing as soon as I could hold and control a pencil and explored many mediums during my time at school. Later, came the computer and I took to technology with an open mind. After lots of experimentation, happy accidents and floundering, I managed to merge the two worlds of art and computers together.

What I do: I use video still images, photographs and sometimes even scans of original physical artworks (all my own creations.) With these, I ‘play’ with these images and change them visually, although they tend to retain their original character or ‘feel.’

I am immensely interested in nature, music, history, science, space, the universe and the concept of how time works. I frequently listen to music when doing my art as it tends to be very helpful to me with inspiring work.

I am also fascinated by how evolution works, which I try to convey in my art.

Usually, my original paintings, collages, photographs, etc. I begin with are the first generation of works. Once they get ‘played with’, they evolve and grow in themselves. If they get merged with other images, they spawn a next generation, and so on and so forth…

Not only do the second generation of images keep some of the original characteristics of the ‘parent’ images, they also develop a whole new ‘feel’ of their own…

Similarly, with each generation of people, the culture will evolve when they adopt sections of their parents’ attitudes and music tastes and apply it into their own cultural basis. Thus, elements of the parents’ culture will be apparent but the next generation’s culture will ultimately be their very own…
