launches national tour Following the successful, seventh annual festival of digital moving image, held at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London in May 2003, onedotzero launches its Arts Council of England funded nationwide touring programme. Visiting ten cities across the UK in 2003 and more to be confirmed in 2004, the onedotzero tour starts on the 6th October in Cardiff. onedotzero has brought together the world's leading innovators in filmmaking, music video, motion graphics, computer gaming and live performance events for the past seven years. Split into various strands, the onedotzero festival enables easy access to the future of film and moving image. The ground breaking festival will travel across the UK, from Newcastle to Norwich, Bristol to Brighton at leading national arts venues, providing an opportunity to see onedotzero¹s current programming, which premiered at this year¹s flagship festival. All events will feature screening compilation programmes exploring new forms of digital moving image, and selected events will be accompanied by panel discussions, and presentations from leading creatives from across the UK. Panellists include director Tim Hope (Coldplay, REM and One Giant Leap), MTV award winning music video commissioner John Hassay (Fat Boy Slim and Bjork), Patrick Burgoyne (editor Creative Review) and Aardman Animation (ŒChicken Run¹ and ŒWallace & Gromit¹) amongst others. Highlights of the tour include live events by Saint Etienne and a chance to catch their feature, ŒFinisterre¹. Fans of Saint Etienne will also get the opportunity to meet the band, who will be partaking in Q&A sessions alongside ŒFinisterre's¹ directors at selected venues. onedotzero will present a new Shynola screening programme, featuring highlights from the collective's illustrious career to date including work for UNKLE, Blur, Queens of the Stone Age, Lambchop and work previously unseen on the big screen! The tour also features work by Psyop, MK12, Intro, the BAFTA award winning ŒMy Wrongs' by Chris Morris (Brasseye) and ŒDad's Dead by talented director Chris Shepherd. Special screening programmes include ŒGirls on Film¹ a focus on four distinctive female promo directors and a retrospective of music video genius Michel Gondry. This year's festival also saw the UK release of the first DVD on the onedotzero label. Featuring a collection of new or rarely seen work along with award winning short films from past festivals, the onedotzero_select dvd1 is compiled by onedotzero and marks seven years of the festival's success.
