New
additions to the Bloodbank showcase over the past month include multi-award
winners Fan Li and Primoz Mahne alongside International Society of Typographic
Designers winners Amie Norman and Wen Sheng Teh. Best New Blood winner Willow
Tyrer also makes her first appearance.
The lab
for November focuses on award winning illustration graduates and emerging
professionals. Ian Dodds, Elaine Hedges and Julia Staite are all student
winners of the AOI Images 27 series. Cheynne Edmonston is commended in
the illustration category of the 2003 D&AD Student Awards and Hayley
Smail is a Future of Design Award winner.

There
are still tickets available for the D&AD President’s Forum on
25 November. The Forum will address the question “Is there a growing
divide between theory and practice in design and advertising education?”
Panellists will include Dan Fern from the RCA, Teal Triggs from Kingston
University, John Sorrell from the Sorrell Foundation,
D&AD’s own education chairman Dick Powell and Dave Trott, creative
partner of Walsh Trott Chick Smith.
There are also a few tickets still available for the Head to Head Lecture
on 2 December. This event will see Paula Scher and Seymour Chwast battle
over “What’s more important. Big type or big pictures?”
