291 Gallery present a regular evening of  experimental, underground and avant-garde film from emerging and established artists every Thursday in June beginning the 9th.

Take 291 is a weekly showcase of both emerging and established film artists which will be followed by a screening of a 'classic' artists film. The event will also feature a discussion where filmmakers can discuss their films with the audience and each other, both during and after the film screenings. We hope to generate interaction and enthusiasm between experimental filmmakers in London and beyond. All suggestions from artists and curators for how Take 291 could evolve are very welcome.

291 Performance

Sweet Œn¹ Sour

291 Gallery, Tuesday 14th June Doors: 7pm Live Acts: 8pm Entry: £3 (Free B4 8pm)
With a wide fusion of Spoken words,  Visual Arts, Music and Food, the Sweet Œn¹ Sour is going back to its "roots" when joyful decadence was everyone¹s best friend.

With a bit of glamour here, some extravaganza there, storytellers and music magicians add their own style to the recreation of this golden age. Having given recently a modern Swing to her creative collective, writer Kelly Sommers, who is charming crowds with an erotic twist in various nights such as Pas de Piaf, Queer Story Telling or Bar Wotever, is giving a human glance to romances and love affairs; just coming back from touring with Placebo in South America and putting a final touch to his new album, this Man of Melancholy and host of the fambloyant monthly frolic Hanky Panky, pop artist Xavior Roide, joined by some of his dandy friends, is coming down with his sparkling and moving melodies; with his mix of pop art pieces celebrating the young and the restless, illustrator and painter Sina, whose bright and colourful has served several Terrence Higgings Trust¹s campaigns, shows what a crazy boy every youngster could be. A dark and surreal chaos may follow this fine moment of decadence, thanks to evil beats and cynical verses: Sample bombardment from Brains and Virgins, electro music duet The Bare Leg Club expect to be all loud on the western front; entertaining local and international audiences with his comic and visual words, London-based U.S poet Scott Rechia may reports another "tragic" episode from one of his unexpected characters.
Through the night, while indulging the audience with Sweet Œn¹ Sour food platters, Ms Emily Maurel teams up with music wizards, for a series of dance improvisation, mixing modern-jazz and African moves.
