Brain Aided Design™ SoYo™: The Designers Republic |
Sheffield Galleries & Museums Trust are thrilled to announce that the Millennium Galleries will host a unique exhibition celebrating the work of Sheffield-based design company, The Designers Republic. From 28 th May – 21 st August 2005, ‘Brain Aided Design SoYo™, a retrospective of work by the internationally renowned The Designers Republic, comes home to Sheffield. The exhibition will preview work from their new book ‘Brain Aided Design / Let Us Come in Your Minds’ (Laurence King Publishing) and coincide with the re-launch of their consumer division The Peoples Bureau for Consumer Information (www.thepeoplesbureau.com). The Designers Republic is an ideas-based, creative led, new media and design studio, which has been described as ‘the most influential studio of the 1990’s’. They have been creating bold, challenging and distinctive designs since 1986 for world leading clients including Sony, Nokia and Issey Miyake as well as influential record labels like Warp Records, super club Gatecrasher and major UK bands including Supergrass and Pulp amongst many others. Their store, The Peoples Bureau For Consumer Information, in Shibuyu, Tokyo was opened as an extension of the influence of consumerism in their work. Brain Aided Design SoYo™ will be a site-specific shrine to the work of The Designers Republic. Featuring around 40 huge custom banners plus posters which include illustrations from record sleeves, commercial, personal and unseen work fused with influential sequential graphics and digital media.
