The Premiums exhibition showcases some of the best contemporary work being
produced by young artists today. Highlighting the diverse work produced
by second year students at the Royal Academy Schools, the exhibition provides
an opportunity to view painting, sculpture and photography, by developing,
aspiring artists mid-way through their studies.
The
RA Schools offer students the opportunity to develop their ideas and working
practices on a unique three-year postgraduate course. Attracting students
from across the UK and Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas,
the RA Schools has established an international reputation, and is renowned
for its creativity and originality. With a total of 60 places available,
the Schools offer students a wide range of benefits including access to
tutorials and lectures given by leading figures in the art world, and
links with a wide range of contemporary artists, including Royal Academicians.
Premiums offers an insight into the contemporary art scene of tomorrow,
and provides an invaluable opportunity to view and buy work by some of
the most talented art students in the country.
SPONSORSHIP
Premiums will be sponsored in 2003 by Walker Morris, one of the leading
law firms in the country, as part of a one-year sponsorship of the Schools
annual exhibitions. Walker Morris will also sponsor the Schools Show,
a final year show by students who have completed the three-year postgraduate
degree.
OPENING
HOURS AND ADMISSION
The exhibition is open daily from 10am – 6pm and until 10pm on Friday.
Admission is free.

• The Schools have been historically linked to the Royal Academy
of Arts since its foundation in 1768. The Schools offer up to 60 students
the opportunity to study painting, printmaking and sculpture on a three-year
postgraduate course – the only such fine art course available in
the UK. Past students of the RA Schools include JMW Turner and William
Blake and more recently John Hoyland, Anthony Caro and Jane Simpson.
