Families |
“
.. a nest for dreaming….. a shelter for imagining..” Home is a space that hums with memories and possibility. A one bedroom flat on the busy Harrow Road plays host to Happy Families, an exploration into the tensions and dynamics of the intimate and the domestic. Artists; Ruth Berenbaum, Anna Blom, Anne Brodie, Lisa Castagner, Claire Coles, Rikke Digerud, Anna Hutton, Claire Lewis, Ed Orton, May Parnas, Shashi Patel, Richard Pell, Elaine Sheldon, Steve Tillotson and Jemma Weston investigate and reflect on the relationship between inhabitants and their environment. Navigating the notions of territory, they demonstrate an inescapable truth; home is everything; the artefacts we treasure to items used daily. Where Fine Art redefines Interiors, Happy Families confronts the ritual of the everyday and turns it into the unexpected. A
‘part-time’ viewing space Happy Families will co-exist alongside
the normal day-to-day life of the owners with performance pieces being
presented over two weeks. Evening events are small informal affairs Monday
to Friday, opening from 6 pm to 9pm by invitation only. Public
open days: Saturdays 16, 23 and 30 August 11am – 5 pm. About
Lost Property: “ Really cool. A lot of new talent that will go a long way, I liked the combination of different art cultures, especially the integration of fashion into the art realm.” Martin Sparks, Sleaze Nation Notes
