Cinnamon Heathcote-Drury uses lens-based media to explore our relationship with time. Portraits frozen by still photography are released back into the present, via projection. Subjects caught on film appear trapped, bound in endless cycles of repetition. Layers of truth and reality are brought into question, whilst objects from the past, from our childhood, are distorted like the memories they represent.

Numerous portraits adorn the wall, but on closer examination they are not quite what they seem. The choice of translucent material casts shadows and creates eerie dimensionality. Projections hover like ghosts. Distortions cast an uncertainty over what we perceive and actually see.

The arresting video pieces compel us to examine subjects trapped within their own vortex, a dimension ruled by the patterns of fate. Hypnotic as well as disturbing, we are encouraged to make close study: to pause and reflect upon the human condition.
