From 7th May 2005 Artist Eye Space, will be showing new work by Anastasia Lewis

Anastasia Lewis, formerly a costume designer and now an exhibiting artist live, with her husband, the actor Jim Broadbent.

In her work the strong sense of structure has come from three main influences:

Firstly, her interest in Contemporary Urban Architecture.
With its bold colours and fiercely rigid geometry, which is often softened with sweeping curves and the sensual textures of organic materials.

African textile with their rich textures and complex weaves plays a significant part in the composition of her work.

Lastly, the extraordinary horizons of the flat Lincolnshire Saltmarshes, where even the smallest upright creates a dramatic statement.

“What I try to paint is not what I see in the landscape, but what the landscape stimulates me - the geometry of light, climate and space”.
