21 st Century Watercolour |
|
21 st Century Watercolour 8 July to 1 August 2004 Now in its sixth year, this open competition is a passionate celebration of watercolour as a vibrant medium for the 21 st century. Unlike other watercolour painting competitions, 21 st Century Watercolour is not prescriptive about size, subject matter, or the age of the artists. It is this truly open approach which attracts some of the most innovative and exciting artists working in watercolour today, and the result is a dynamic and challenging exhibition that offers visitors a visual feast. The selection panel for 21 st Century Watercolour will be Tim Wilcox, independent curator, John McEwen, former art critic Sunday Telegraph, Trevor Frankland, President RWS (Chair), Liz Butler RWS, and Leslie Worth PPRWS. Prizes worth in excess of £10,000 will be awarded and include cash, prizes, commissions, a travel award and art materials. Prizes have been donated by Abbot & Holder, ArtReview, Baker Tilly, Brandler Galleries, Winsor & Newton, Daler Rowney, Elizabeth Scott-More, Freshfields, New Academy Gallery, Richard Smith, Royal Watercolour Society, St Cuthberts Mill and The Artist. Prize-winning works will be chosen by these donors.
