Artist Statement:

I've been into dinosaurs right from the beginning. Blame my mum. She bought me my first dinosaur book before I was born. For as long as I can remember I've been drawing them left, right and centre, and so a career along palaeoartistic lines was inevitable and desirable. Having said that, a look at my direction in '98 would have suggested a different outcome, with me gawping at rocks on the south coast until my eyes shrivelled, but luckily I changed my mind and took a year out to study technical illustration in the
bog-ridden lands of East Anglia.

Armed with a National Diploma in tech ill, I went to Blackpool & the Fylde College of Art & Design to study a degree in Scientific & Natural History Illustration. It was the only choice really, and got me further entangled in the palaeo art scene. In 2002 I got a bit of a 'break' when a chance visit to Oxford University Museum landed me a job illustrating their new extinct marine reptile displays. Happily, it was one of those spring board things people talk about, and I got recommissioned a couple of times,
producing images of dinosaurs and earth cross-sections, depicting plate tectonics and subterranium processes (okay, okay, I'm trying to tart it up a bit).

Currently, I'm working on a private piece, and there's probably some more stuff for the museum towards the end of the year, but I'm trying to expand a bit to vary my folio and CV. I'm interested in branching into narrative stuff and possibly gallery-style one-offs and arty farty things, but they're probably a few months off. Watch this space.
