Artists statement:
Project title: Synaesthesia
My abstract images are explorations into the hidden areas of the brain,
the sub-conscious. It is my aim to use everyday media to bring a new ‘un-seen’
world. In everyday life we rely on the auditory part of our brain to process
the world through letters and numbers, often neglecting our visual perception.
‘Synaesthesia’ is the crossing of the senses, whereby one
can ‘see’ music or ‘hear’ pictures. I aim to bring
these elements together by manipulating colour and form, resulting in
bright, textured, loud images or quite, humming, tranquil images. Images
that can calm and images that can raise your heartbeat.
