Artist Statement:
I am interested in how, from myth to cinema, the narratives that inform our culture influence how we organise our ideas of our self and our enivronment. I look at how we use these ideas to evoke mystery in the commonplace and to extract stories from life giving structure to abstraction. By using a similar pattern in making pictures and by extracting the most evocative from the most everyday, I use the camera to explore the relationship between the reality that is imposed on us and the fictions we use to shape it.

The different characters of extreme natural light and its counter artificial light lend themselves to this and feature heavily in my work.
