Artist Statement:
I
design and make my own three dimensional textiles. These are primarily
made in hand made felt which I manipulate through machine stitch, cutting,
shaping the fibres and combining with other unusual materials. Every hand
made piece I make is unique and original due to the nature of the feltmaking
process.
I take inspiration from the natural landscape - rock formations, sand
patterns, the shape of the land - and use this as a starting point in
creating highly textural fabrics which I visualise within a contemporary
living space. I make decorative felt vessels, throws, cushions and sculptural
forms and currently sell work through a selection of galleries and shops
throughout Scotland. I also work on a commissions basis.
