Statement and Project Description:
Self Portrait
in Dressing Room (d)
I am interested in the potential of the photograph to evoke intimate memories
and emotions as well as the possibility of narrative. Often, everyday
objects are charged with these emotions and reflect how life has passed
through or around them.
Some of the images show objects exactly how they were left and others
are staged to recreate a particular moment in time.
All the King’s Horses, Serpent and Galloper (a – c)
Portrait of Peter (singer), White Falcon, Drink and Miracle (e –
h)
These images are part of a series made in response to a request by the
band Dogkennel Hill to create the album art for their work in progress.
I had access to the band as they worked but also simultaneously wanted
to produce photographs based on the strong lyrical content of their music
and the imagery it generates.
