Artist Statement:
the apricot

(formal anarchy)

In my work I am dealing with the notion of the informality of Snapshot-Photography.
Its individual aspects and effects are put into a grammatical concept. They create picture stories, which remind us of difficult image-puzzles to which we have to find the solving key. Reappearing structures lead the eye gently from frame to frame in order to connect and to stimulate the fantasy. Their meaning can only be discovered in the viewer’s personal relation to the imagery.

Even though the pictures I select feature people, animals, interiors, streets, landscapes, abstracts and objects, they were inspired by the conceptual structures of my first still-life which was of an apricot. This is not, however, the only reason for the title. The ‘apricot’ as such, stands for little allegorical capacities what I want my pictures to be based on.

The structure of each ‘sentence’ is based on the concept of the ‘Haiku’ - a concentrated and highly constructed poem that stands as the beginning of an imaginary longer text.
To me the-apricot-sentences are intimate, poetic, romantic and magic. They reflect a personal photo-reality and a particular aesthetic. They carry a certain inspiring quality that triggers memories and releases creative thoughts for myself as much as for other viewers.
