Artist Statement:
I believe that bags hold a great importance to many people's daily life, as they carry what we need to feel comfortable out with our homes. My bags are created to act as functional adornment, hanging delicately from the hand, fingers, wrist or body without any discomfort to the wearer. They are very decorative with the addition of beads, flowing tassells, and soft suedette linings, and yet portray a certain strength with the use of various leathers and metals. Their unconventional forms in no way sacrifice their function as a container of a person's belongings. These particular bags' origins came from the theme of fantasy, where I looked at various aspects such as art and film, nature and fashion. I drew inspiration from textures, colours and moods within the imagery to create different looks for each bag. From the dark and gothic, to the pure and innocent, I explored many themes within fantasy through these bags. I welcome any comments and questions and I am open to commissions.
