Echoes of Japanese, Aboriginal, Arabic and Central American reflect the journeying of the artist, who lived and worked in Hong Kong for eleven years and travelled extensively. She now lives and works in London.
An artist, illustrator and designer. She studied Graphic Design at Middlesex University and later Visual Communication at the University of Central England.
"In the early part of my career as a graphic designer the art of developing symbols and logos developed my ability to condense a number of ideas into a simple visual language," said Kathleen.
Working for Conran Design group in Hong Kong, she became fascinated with the visual aspect of Chinese characters which led her to research there cross-cultural resonance and the anthropology of Chinese characters.
Symbols and equations, ancient culture and characters inspire Kathleen’s work; these images communicate with simplicity, which is universal. Her graphic symbolic approach allows us the space to focus on a spontaneous quality of line.
