Artists Statement

'The desert is a place of metaphysical experience; a melancholic space of indifference.

When I visited the Sahara, I was impressed by the sheer vastness of the place. A place consumed by Aridness, but which contains a multitude of colours and textures. The desert landscape is surrounded by waves of sinuous and undulating lines formed within the sand dunes created by mild winds. It felt as though I was in a place that seemed to have neither beginning nor end, but an unusual sense of time; a landscape, which offers vitality and meaning to a world that has temporarily lost its sense to the intimate phenomena of everyday life.

It is this experience of the Sahara, encompassing the journey, time and spiritualism, which has influenced my practical work.'
