Artist Statement:

My latest body of work is concerned with creating pictorial space on the flat canvas, through the use of illusionistic movement. Over the past few years experimenting with tools and materials, pigments and mediums, I have developed an unique practice to achieve these aims.

The qualities of brushmark and line are paramount to the success of the work as it is though these that 'illusion' is enabled. The paintings are always the result of an evolutionary process, taking into account 'happy accidents'

and any changes in direction as the works progress. Although at times this leads to a conflict between the desire to let the medium dictate its own outcome, and a need to assert order onto the canvas.
