Statement:
My interest
lies in the human instinct to deny our natural being. Clothes, makeup,
religion and material possesions are frequently used as tools for overshadowing
our true identities as biological beings.
Within my work, the image of the ape is a metaphor for the identity that
we find so disgusting within modern society. For example, the unnatural
constructed image of celebrity is preferred to the image of man as an
advanced ape.
My work tries to establish the barriers between what is respected within
society and what our biological
structure desires.
