Statement:
As a Graphic Design Graduate from the Cumbria Institute of the Arts, I
feel that my greatest strength within this area is my creative thinking
and humorous approach to design. This was recognised when I was chosen
by my institute to exhibit amongst the best new graduates at the 2003
D&AD New Blood exhibition.
Symbols
After identifying the problems linked with existing wash-care symbols,
I redesigned a complete set of symbols that will help people understand
and identify the correct wash instruction for clothing and fabric.
Book
Book cover design. The book comes in a mesh bag which is intended to be
delivered as a direct mail pack to
households across the UK. The mesh bag is re-usable and the book cover
is made out of cotton. The book acts as an easy-to-follow guide to the
new wash-care symbols.
Wash
it & Tumble it
Selected spread designs from the book.
Bleach tee, Wool wash
tee & Hand wash tee T shirt designs that work as walking billboards
to raise awareness of the new wash-care symbols.
Exhibition
Controversial and double meaning poster design for Cumbria Institute of
the Arts' Summer Exhibition 2001.
Condoms are framed against a white background to give the feeling that
you are looking at a piece from an
exhibition. The copy-line shouts "It will make you come again!".
Band
aid & Traffic lights
2 editorial spread designs for the book "Century Makers: 100 Clever
Things We Take For Granted Which
Have Changed Our Lives Over The Last Hundred Years by David Hillman and
David Gibbs. Illustrations are designer's own.
