Artist Statement:

These three paintings are MEDUSA'S DANCE OF LIFE, BODHISATTVA VENUS (Large full body version - there is a smaller, older head and shoulders 'Icon' version on the website), and PHOEBUS APOLLO (1st version/study).

I have done landscapes in the past, mostly based in Alaska and Maryland, but since 1999 I've been immersed in mythological subjects - Egyptian and Greco-Roman, usually with a twist: a cross fertilization of eastern and western subjects and symbols in a quest to present a more universalized message. I am nearly done with my Greco-Roman subjects and plan to start a new cycle based on Celtic-British-Nordic mythology with huge influences from medieval as well as early renaissance styles of art. My personal style is a cross between Botticelli and Raphael for starters, although there are other stylistic influences that come and go, but I also have a great love of color.
