Artist Statement:
Currently, the elegant feeling of Japan inspires my main work. By using simple repetition of customised origami folds, with craft techniques to decorate and manipulate the surface of fabrics. In the course of this development and experimentation, I have produced subtle and exquisite pattered, wall hangings, which can be suspended in front of a light source. The light source then produces further patterns by showing the depth of the folds. These techniques have been further developed, into lighting and handbags. Other work includes Illustrative/Decorative artwork. Amalgamating digital technology, with traditional techniques such as screen printing and stitch. These were created with the intention to be used in a Bar/Music venue. Since Graduating from university I have worked on private commissions to produce hangings and bags. Presently looking for ways to market these products, in the future I would also like to work on Gallery/Public venue installations.
