About The Artist
London
based Michal Rockman is a graphic/print designer. As a freelancer she
works with various fashion designers, mainly with streetwear style graphics.
She also collaborates with music/media events on the visual side with
the production of album covers, flyers, posters and and general PR material.
Michal has her own project – Mucking Fuddle – a collection
of graphics which started in 2004 as a tshirt line with screen printed
images based on Victorian wit with a bit of twist.
She believes in humour as being something necessary to her designs. Her
work on Mucking Fuddle is infused with visuals and text as an ode to our
1920's ancestors - the first radicals who used humorous wit as a subcultural
expression
Throughout her final year at Middlesex University doing her BA in Illustration,
she was designing & customizing ex-army surplus garments for Jungle
Clothing - Covent Garden. These very same garments received celebrity
endorsement by David Beckham & other celebs and also got a spot in
The Observer Mag as BestSeller of the week. Jungle garments were also
sold in Topman and Selfridges.
Later on Mucking Fuddle was born for the exhausted and cynical young men
who where looking for something to wink at them while looking through
the wardrobe. The garments where all screen printed by herself in a fully
equipped-rotating carousel printing studio she operated and where then
sold at several boutiques off Carnaby Street. Mucking Fuddle became her
own stage to express her visual vocabulary.
On the more commercial side of things she has worked with suppliers, designing
for high street retailers such as River Island, New Look & Topman.
