Artist
Statement:
I am originally
from Japan but am currently studying an MA in Photography at Falmouth
College Of Arts in Cornwall. I am interested in visual narrative. I believe
photography is about creating a story, by choosing what, where and how
we take the photo. All my photographs are an expression of how I perceive
the world. It is the certain moments, colours, light and shadows that
attract me and which I feel I can record through the lens of the camera.
When I capture a single moment in front of me, I try to picture myself
in the frame creating a world within it.
At the moment
I am working on a project which focuses on the divide between public and
the private with the main emphasis being on windows. I am interested in
the relationship between observing and being observed. I think of the
window as a boundary between the out side world and inner space, which
is also similar to the boundaries of society.
In the future
I hope to work with landscape and art photography, but am also interested
in collaborating with other artists who work with narrative, such as poets,
writers and graphic designers.
