Artist Statement Nikki finds her initial inspiration for her work from behind the eye of the lens with photography forming the foundation of her art. Using photographs purely as an outline for form and composition, Nikki then draws on colour, texture and pattern to create a heightened sense of narrative and sentiment for each piece. "I'm always looking for perfect photos and great textures that I can use. In my piece called Domestic Goddess, set in a kitchen, I wanted to use textures that you'd find in a domestic setting, so the doors in the kitchen are created from scanning a potato; I also used a scouring pad for another texture. Inspiration and textures can come from the strangest sources". After completing a degree in Communications in Design, Nikki began her career as a Designer. Working for a number of newspapers and magazines, Nikki continued to make art in her spare time. Her work within the design industry gave Nikki the perfect opportunity to develop her technical knowledge and talent for her art. For sales, commissions and to send comments to the artist.
