Artist Statement
I am a young artist currently living and practicing in London, my work
focuses on the human form in it's many different aspects.
Since my early
childhood I developed a fascination with the human figure through watching
my mother painting portraits for a living. This interest in people has been
amplified through my multicultural upbringing and living in crowded cities
such as London.
Being a woman the subject of body image and beauty ideals
has also become central to my work as our culture is bombarded with ideas of
female perfection.
My style combines the opposing influences which the
inner city offers. I explore the contrast of the soft human body and the
hard urban surrounding through shape and texture.
A sense of ambiguity is
also central to my work as I believe that each viewer should make their own
opinion of the work rather than being told what to think. |
