Artist Statement:

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

1st Class BA Honours Fine Art.
Staffordshire University
1999 - 2002

Over three years at university I developed the knowledge to create my own studio practice, to work in a disciplined and self-reliant manner, to produce artwork that deals with certain issues and which involves a high level of problem solving.

In this time I produced artwork for exhibitions, one local, two in the United States and exhibited and assistant curated for an exhibition in London. I also produced artwork to be used in magazine advertisements, illustrations for clothing company’s, magazines and books. My work is currently part for the touring “Weston Collection” exhibited in the Lowry Museum, Salford. I spent one semester studying in America.

Throughout this course I developed all the major skills in art and design from life drawing and fashion to graphic and computer aided art. I Specialised my skills to Fine Art in the last semester of the year through producing a final exhibition involving film, sound, painting, collage and photography.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Artist in Residence & Technician to the Art & Design Faculty, Kinross Wolaroi School, NSW, Australia,
September 2002 – September 2003
I am currently working as Artist in Residence & Technician. I have many duties, assistant teacher, general technician for the department and producing my own work, exhibiting in and outside the school. The end product of which will be a commissioned work for the school.

Organized and curated a group show including photography, painting and projected animations, of mine and other artists work.


Sidewalk Skateboard Magazine,
December 2002
Created a group of illustrations for a two page article on the history of heavy metal. Printed in the January 2003 issue.

Worked as a technician hanging a traveling show and was also given the chance to add my own work to the show.
