Artist Statement:

1744- is the title of the collection and also the year when king Louis XV met his most famous mistress, Madame de Pompadour, at a masked ball in France. All the head pieces shown are inspired by this event. The design for the jewellery is based on 18th century symbolism and portraiture, and particularly informed by the works of Francois Boucher, Jacques- Louis David, Thomas Gainsborough and Hyacinthe Rigaud.
