ARTIST STATEMENT

I am still very new to photography but think this is one of the reasons my work has such a raw and playful feel to it. Being self taught I am not over concerned with the technicalities of the art but rather, wanting to explore and experiment with every style and principle of photography.

I am at a period in my life when I am coming out of the shelter of university and into the open, scary but still exciting world. I think this is very apparent in my work, in it’s fragility and vulnerability whilst at the same time being bold and abstract. My logo of a butterfly represents this process of emerging and being ready to come into full being.

I believe one can find beauty in anything, there is no such thing as a boring subject matter, you can take anything and with the aid of a camera make it into a beautiful, inspiring image.

I am very concerned with colours and the way they stand next to one another.

I want to take the viewer away from the harsh realities of life, we don’t need to be reminded of the dull things around us, I want to inject some colour into people’s worlds.
