Artist Statement Through fragmentation and repetition I attempt to re-assess the female form and my physical identity. The images of my body parts; hands, eyes stomach etc, are a series of photocopies. I did not to use the original photographs as I wanted to reinforce the concept of mass-producing something which is supposed to be unique and intimate. The plaster sculpture has four relief surfaces, each one revealing a different perspective of my body and face. The metallic cubic women are based on Madrid prostitutes. They have been bulit from wood and painted in acrylic. I aimed to bring the architecture of the city that bore them into their appearancere and reinforce their functionality, their movement and shadow. The torso pots are
made from clay and plaster. The 'heads' are artificial flowers.
