A set of illustrations produced from reportage work on the theme of local buyers and traders, the market place and local streets around Loughborough.

Artist Statement:

I am a freelance illustrator. My visual language is constantly being built upon and range of subject matter added to with the reportage projects I have undertaken. I try to capture the freshness and immediacy of the situation I
am illustrating, which is why I like to finish the piece before it becomes overworked.

The negative space - what is left out - is often as important as what is drawn in. I carry out reportage work at various rural and urban locations, capturing the essence of the area and its people.

I often like to leave the viewer to make up their own mind about what the story behind the piece may be, as the illustrations have an open narrative quality with enough information to tell a story.

I also have a great interest in literature and would like to produce more work based on text, both book publishing and editorial work - short stories or articles. My work could also be used in card design or advertising as I am able to respond to any situation.
