Artist Statement:
My current work is focused upon the ideas and visuals surrounding
femininity.
In this
small selection of images from this body of work, it shows the
repetition and continuation of preparing and applying make-up to our faces.
"Your
Second Skin"
It's all about
fitting in and trying to be who you want to be, but always having the
boundaries of a sociably acceptable image standing in our way. The process
is long and part of our daily routine which we carry out with accuracy
until that image can finally be accepted into todays living standards. We
shouldn't care what other people think of us, but the fact of the case
is
that no matter how many times we say this, we do care, so we keep applying
our many faces. And no matter how much make-up we apply it always washes
off at the end of the day to reveal our true colours, which for society
and ourselves is never
good enough. And Yet We Still Persist.
