Artist Statement:
I
am a graphic designer, specialising in typography and print- based design.
The samples of my work display how I use print techniques, particularly
letterpress and incorporate and combine these with my computer skills
to produce a unique and quality design.
The composing room facilities at University are where I have been fortunate
to learn the skills of letterpress, resulting now in my interest and desire
to collect and create a workshop of my own in the near future. It has
expanded my knowledge and appreciation of fine typography and graphic
communication, which is fundamental in all graphic design.
'Colourful
Language' is the title of a set of postcards, designed for educational/
commercial function. The designs playfully illustrate and explain the
origins of specific commonly spoken English idioms, in the English language.
The designs are created from wooden poster type from letterpress, and
print.
