Statement:
Riaz Mangi living not far from Moen jo daro, he grew up viewing art in
its ancient and magnificent form. Thus arose in him even before he was
conscious of it, a deep love and sensitivity for such forms of expression
as are to be witnessed in and around the remains of the ancient civilization.
He felt strongly that he could express himself effectively in creative
terms; With the blessing of his family Riaz Mangi packed his bags and
went for Lahore where he enrolled in the Designing Deportment at the National
College of Arts; Mangi was able to study for one year. Riaz Mangi left
Lahore to join Sindh University Jamshoro as a student of Fine Arts Department.
Where he acquired his master degree in fine arts with 1st Class 1st Position.
Riaz Mangi's work shows that he is desperately trying to convey a massage
to humanity a call for help, He hopes that he can make a difference.
His life size figures, beautiful yet simple are not made for the sole
pleasure of the eye, instead they depict the harsh realities of life.
these sculptures tell powerful stories that have universal appeal. His
figures portray such themes as starvation, poverty, anxiety, search for
the inner self and oppression of women in a male dominated society.
