Seb Dale Artist Statement An old man lives in the flat above me. He wanders around at night and the women don’t trust him; his blinds are always down. He keeps to himself. I always want to ask him where he got those marks on his face, but I don’t dare. Sometimes there’s a buzzing and this stuff comes through the bathroom ceiling, sort of dark fibres but they’re sometimes wet. I’ve been collecting it, putting it into little jars on my shelf. Sometimes he has guests; I’ve been keeping my blinds down recently so I never see their faces. I just hear them above me and this fluttering noise and more fibres drop through the cracks. He smiles at me now, when we pass each other in the stairwell.
