The Eagle Gallery
The Eagle Gallery
was established by Emma Hill in 1991 to promote the work of contemporary
British artists through a regular programme of exhibitions, installations
and artists' publications. The Gallery has a firm commitment to
supporting the work of young artists and has established the EMH
Arts imprint to publish contemporary artists and writers in collaborative
bookworks. The Gallery represents a core group of artists: Chris
Baker, Jane Bustin, Jeff Gibbons, Tom Hammick, Harriet Mena Hill,
Helen Ireland, Manijeh, Zara Matthews and Terry Smith and has shown
the work of many of the foremost generation of young British painters
during the past eight years. Past exhibitors include: Andrew Bick,
Cecily Brown, Peter Doig, Peter Ellis, Mark Francis, Rosa Lee and
Amanda Thesiger amongst many others. Established artists have been
invited to use the space on occasion to make or show work in an
experimental way and notable shows include Basil Beattie's Drawing
on the Interior - an installation of over three hundred works
on paper and Another Situation/No Style - a collaboration
between Mel Gooding and Bruce McLean which resulted in the building
of a sculptural library within the Gallery space.
